Wrong number lands Owen in jail

If you are looking for a drug dealer, you better be sure of the number you contact. One woman got the wrong people looking to buy meth and ended up in jail.

Ashley Nichole Owen, 37, of Smithville texted a number inquiring about buying meth. The phone was actually a Sheriff Department issued cell phone of one of the detectives. She said she had found the number and wanted to buy some meth. A meeting was set up with Owens, the detective and another officer. She handed the captain $100 in exchange for what she thought was methamphetamine. However, she was given a fake narcotic in the sting. She was charged with Possession of a controlled subustance for sell or delivery and methamphetamine manufacture, deliver, sell or possess. Owen also had an outstanding violation of probation out of circuit court which was served on her. Her total bond came to $10,000, and she is set to appear in court April 5 on the violation and April 22 on the drug charges.
