After a quarter-inch rainfall Sunday night and brisk winds blowing before the rain, the week so far has been beautiful with plenty of sunshine in the valley.
Someone left not only nice turnip greens but some of those wide leaves of mustard and some delicious kale which cooked together make a good dish for a cold winter day and a healthy dish.
Wonder if my old neighbor Jimmy Womack has been in the valley this morning.
We used to can turnip greens and may just can some this year.
Lisa Cripps visited her mother, Louise Frazier, Tuesday evening and brought her a hot meal.
Jennifer Hendrix brought baby Sawyer Allen to see her great-grandmother Louise Frazier. Sawyer is her 18th great-grandchild and she was delighted to see the new edition to the family.
The DeKalb Tigers traveled to Baxter Friday night to play Upperman.

Jimmy Kimbrell, the man you see out on the field in his red truck at home games who brings Gatorade to the Tigers, was at Baxter giving his support to the DCHS Team. Steve London of Cookeville Highway also attended the game with Jim Kimbrell.
Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Cripps and Christian and Mrs. Faye Adkins have returned home after a vacation in Florida.
Bro. Donald Owens is in Revival this week near Murfreesboro. He was absent at Wednesday Prayer Service. Our prayers are with our pastor during revival.
Mr. and Mrs. Danny Agee, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Kimbrell and Mr. Kenny Edge attended the Annual Salem Baptist Association 190 Session at Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church Tuesday evening, Oct. 16. Delicious food was served by the ladies of the church.

Dry Creek Baptist Church was honored to have a young minister, his wife and daughters, the Rev. Jonathan Grizzell of Hustonville, Ky., where Bro. Donald Owens held revivals for the past several years at Sunday morning service.
Church activities to remember: On Oct. 20 there will be a four-wheeler ride on Dry Creek and everyone needs to bring a sack lunch; Oct. 25 the senior adults will go to Fall Creek Falls to sightsee and have dinner with Bro. Owens at the park cafeteria; and on Oct. 27 is the Harvest Festival and hayride with chili, soup and hotdogs and have goodies for the trunk or treat.
