Chicken dung

During the past years, some people would have a big family band. They would play for square dances, pie suppers and such. Sometimes these square dances would be held in homes in the community.

Uncle Willie Jones had one of the most famous bands in the country. Sometimes the only compensation bands would get would be donations.

Uncle Willie was on his way to play music for a political rally. He would usually drive with his arm out the window. He was driving down a country road and ran through a flock of chickens that was crossing the road.

The chickens flew up over the car and one hen messed on Uncle Jones’s white shirt. Since there would not be time to change, Uncle Jones stopped at a creek and washed the chicken dung out of his white shirt.

He then went on to play at the big political show. Everybody knows what mess chicken dung can make on a white shirt. However, every musician knows how important it is to play for a political rally.

It’s especially important when you are going to get a little money for the band. The story has some truth to it and maybe some fiction, but part of the story was told to be true.
