The blackberries are in bloom so now we have one more winter to go through. I think most people call it stump winter and I do not know why. I always can spot the blackberries when they are in bloom and I always say I will pick them when they become ready but somehow between now and the berries getting ripe I forget or it is in the high weeds and I decide I am not going to pick them. Or it is because I think about the snakes, chiggers, ticks and other things that can cause me harm. So I usually buy some from a braver picker than me. This past week I fried some okra and it was so good I also had some pinto, corn bread, fried potatoes and macaroni and cheese. I am going to Griffin’s Market to get me some onions and fresh picked cucumbers I just love them. My peonies are in full bloom finally the pink one is blooming. It takes them a year or so to bloom or mine is just a slow bloomer. I also did not know it was pink. But it is a beautiful dark pink I think peonies are so beautiful.
I am also ready for everything to quit blooming. My allergies cannot take much more. I can see the pollen on my car, patio and even on the windows. But I know it will go away soon. I heard this morning someone has spotted the dreaded Cicada. Someone also said that the Cicada is a favorite treat for Copperhead snakes and that the Copperhead will either wait at the base of a tree or climb the tree for this tasty snack. So beware around your trees and bushes. And there is a new Mosquito and it can really cause some damage to you. If you are bitten and it starts to swell real big go to the doctor before it can enter your blood stream. So much to be aware of these days. Spray your yard if all possible and remember to get flea and tick medicine for your pets.
Have a blessed week.
