My birthday is today not telling you my age but I will share some interesting facts about the year I was born.

I sports Astroturf was invented and the Los Angeles Dodgers were World Series Champions. NFL champs were the Green Bay Packers and AFL Champs were the Buffalo Bills. Let’s not forget basketball the champs were the Boston Celtics.

Some of the fashionista’s and movie stars were Briditte Bardot, Doris Day, Barbara Eden, Audrey Hepburn, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth Montgomery, Mary Tyler Moore, Donna Reed and Elizabeth Taylor.

Girls use to buy comic books as often as boys. “Superman’s girlfriend Lois “was the third best selling title. Some of the toys were Wham-O’s superballs and Operation game, Moon McDare action figures, James Bond, Flea Circus super ball which could bounce at 92% of the prior bounce. Rock  Em’ Robots, and one of my favorites Mystery Date. I always wanted a Mystery Date game and finally received one I loved that game.

The top shows to watch were Bonanza, Gomer Pyle, The Lucy Show, The Andy Griffith Show, Bewitched, Beverly Hillbillies, Hogan Hero’s and of course Green Acres. Now if you listened to music which I am sure most of you did then you will remember The Righteous Brothers, You’ve Lost that Lovin’ Feelin’, My Girl by the Temptations, Stop! In the name of Love by the Supremes, Ticket to Ride, Beatles, Help Me Rhonda, The Beach Boys, I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch), I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, The Rolling Stones and I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher. I just wish the Beach Boys had come out with Barbara Ann that year. It is my song you know.

This is some of the things going on during the year I was born. I was born in Smyrna, Tennessee at the Sewart Air Force Base. My daddy, Odis Rowland was in the U.S. Navy for over 20 years and met my mother, Hideko Rowland in Japan while he was stationed there during his service. After his retirement we lived in Alexandria, Tennessee on a farm. I have two older brother, James and Paul Rowland. I had to put that older in as I am the baby of the family. I hope you have enjoyed going back in time with me.

Please continue to pray for the ones that have lost loved ones. Pray for this world that it may turn away from sin and reach out to the Lord.
