Smithville Church of God Yard Sale Aug. 24-26
The Smithville Church of God located at 801 W. Broad Street in Smithville will be having a yard sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 24-26, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday until 12 noon. It will be located in the Fellowship Hall in back of the church.
Rufus Cantrell Family Reunion
The Rufus Cantrell Family Reunion will take place Sunday, Aug. 27. The gathering will be in the Community Room (formerly Senior Center) upstairs in the Smithville Community Center located on the town square. Stand Against Addiction Day
H.A.V.E. (Helping Addiction Vanish Everyone) will be hosting a Day against Addiction Day on Aug. 26 in DeKalb County. The day will be honored by a community picnic with representatives from local support groups, churches, community resources, medical and rehabilitation facilities. The event is designed to break the silence of addiction in our community and build a bridge between those affected and those that can help. DeKalb Animal Coalition
The DeKalb Animal Coalition meets monthly on the first Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the former Senior Citizens room on the second floor of city hall. Everyone is welcome to learn about plans for a facility which will house and treat lost or stray animals to be returned to their owner or available for adoption.
