Someone said that Father's Day is not as big of a deal as Mother's Day. No comment on that! Father's Day was started in 1910 by Mrs. John Bruce Dodd of Washington (state). It's always the third Sunday in June.
My Dad died, at the age of 85, in 1996 and is missed everyday.
He taught me how to drive, as he was an honored driver for Continental Trailways for over 30 years. I must share a story about him.
He had several hours layover when he arrived in Nashville at the bus station. He would walk uptown and shop. One day he bought my mother a beautiful black and white dress. Later for her birthday, he bought her another dress, yes, a black and white dress. Then in November, on her birthday, guess what he bought her? Yes, another black and white dress. Finally, my mother said, "Do they have any yellow or red dresses?" He replied that he hadn't seen any, and he added if she didn't like the black and white dresses, that she didn't appreciate them. Guess what? Those were the last dresses he bought; no more dresses for Mother! So gals, don't comment on your gifts!
I hope you have been watching the WCTE-TV auction. Smithville Board members seen assisting were John Cain and Scott Little.
Did anyone attend the CMA Festival in Nashville or Bonaroo?

All Methodist ministers and lay delegates gathered at Brentwood Methodist this week; Annual Conference Time! Business sessions, outstanding worship services, group luncheons and appointments are announced by Bishop Wills and his Cabinet. Bishop Wills is retiring after conference and returning to his former residence in Florida. I stayed with a former classmate, Anne Gilpin, who lives near the church.
