Downtown offers trick or treating Tuesday

Everyone is invited to downtown Smithville on Oct. 31 to take part in the City of Smithville and the Smithville Police Department’s “Trick or Treat Halloween Downtown” from noon until 5 p.m.Smithville City Hall, Smithville Police Department, Justin Potter Library, some courthouse offices and downtown businesses will be passing out candy and treats. Participating locations will be marked with an orange pumpkin in their windows.Maps listing all the offices and businesses will available at the police department and Justin Potter Library.For more information call Beth Adcock at the Smithville Police Department at 615-597-8210 ext. 1, or check out the police department’s face book page at Smithville-DeKalb County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a “Best Costume Contest” for downtown businesses and offices as well.Entrants should take a picture and email it to or take a phone pic and send it to 615-594-2792 by 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.
