Lisa Cripps took her mother, Louise Frazier to the Candle Glow for breakfast Saturday morning.
After a delicious breakfast, Louise saw and talked to a pupil she taught at Gassaway Elementary School in 1964, a very nice little boy who is now the owner of a store in Smithville which sells fresh vegetables and number one jumbo eggs, Larry Hancock and wife.
We see Larry very often. It so good to follow up on those you have taught and find them to be doing well as outstanding citizens in our county.
We also remember Sarah Cripps and Michiko Howard at Smithville Elementary. Both have agreat jobs and are outstanding citizens in DeKalb County.
We also saw our neighbor in the Vandagriff Hollow, Jimmy Midgett.
Lots of politicians eating at the Candle Glow whom I’ve talked with, some we knew some we did not know.
We enjoyed just getting out and seeing people. the restaurant might have served a few more, but it was full.
Those having Mother’s day dinner at the home of Louise Frazier were Jerald and Lisa Cripps, Justin Cripps, Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell, David and Monica Reynolds, Levi and Molly, Alexandria, Michelle Kent, Elizabeth and Olivia Miller, Jordan and Nicole Cripps and Christian, Jennifer Hendrix and Sawyer, and Roger and Kathy Hendrix.
We’re sure that other families had children or other guest in their homes. So far, we have had no calls so we don’t know. Please call your news to 536-5286.
Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Kimbrell were in St. Joseph for Decoration Day, where his parents, the late Lawrence and Maggie Kimbrell, are buried. They visited with his sister, Judy Beard, and family on Saturday.
Those from out of the county who were at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home for the funeral of Mrs. Willie Jim Ayers Cripps were Mr. and Mrs Lloyd Cripps, Ms. Janie Robertson White House, Mrs. Corinne Clark White House, Ms. Doris Rowland, Mrs. Cindy Marks, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Whitaker, Mr. Bobby Cripps, Mrs. Deb Fuller and Mr. Mike and Roger Jones of Murfreesboro, and Mrs. Rick Turner of Nashville. Special get-well wishes go to Mr. Joe Ayers, who is ill in DeKalb Community Hospital.
His pastor, Bro. Donald Owens, visited him Thursday morning, others visiting him this week were Jimmy Womack, Dwight Cripps, Lisa Cripps and Judy Kimbrell. Please remember Joe in your prayers.
Several family members visited Dwight Cripps at the Cripps home on Sunday.
Several have called for this recipe, so here it is. If you need more help call 536-5286. Some may like extra sharp cheddar or mild, use whichever you like.
Our Pimento Cheese spread:
2 bags extra sharp cheddar cheese, 2 cups each bag, we use Kraft (Shredded).
1-2 cup bag Velvetta (Shredded)
2 cups Hellmans mayo
1 Tablespoon. sugar
1 large jar pimento
Put all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and mix well. refrigerate overnight. this is enough pimento cheese to spread over a normal loaf of bread.
We needed the rain which fell overnight, and appreciate it. Our roses sure needed rain. After a trimming, several are blooming and looking red this morning, The red rose is my favorite flower. Our red geranium pot is a beauty.
