We have lived to see many boys and girls from this beautiful valley finish high school at DCHS, go on to earn B.S. Degrees, Master Degrees, Ed.S Degrees and Doctorate degrees, and now are productive citizens in our own DeKalb County and in a few others.
Our community extends sincere sympathy to the Nonnie Tramel family in the death of Flonnie Fletcher, the twin sister of Nonnie, from the Woodbury community. Several members of Dry Creek Baptist Church were at Woodbury Funeral Home, Sunday to be with the Fletcher and Tramel families in this time of sorrow.
May God comfort and bless them in their hour of need.
Nonnie is not well and her friends here in the valley are praying for her in the loss of her twin sister.
Sunday dinner guests at the home of Louise Frazier were Michele and Brandon Kent, Elizabeth and Olivia Miller, Harry and Natalie Frazier of Huntsville, Alabama, Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell, Lisa Cripps, Jennifer and Sawyer Hendrix, Jordan, Nicole, Christian, Roger and Kathy Hendrix, and David and Monica Reynolds, with Levi and Molly.

A much-needed rain is falling on this Memorial Day.
For eighty years, Joe Ayers lived at the Ayers family residence. After having a good hot breakfast prepared by his only sister, Willie Jim Cripps, who was so good to see that he was taken care of, with his old cap and his brogan's, Joe was content to sit on the front porch or under a shade tree and throw up his hand to everyone entering the Dry Creek valley.
Joe always helped with the morning chores. Feeding the farm animals and helping with a big vegetable garden, and watering the many flower pots on the front porch were his duties.
On Sunday morning, Joe put on his best country clothes and waited for a nice Christian gentleman, Jimmy Womack, to pick him up and take him to his beloved Dry Creek Baptist Church to attend worship services. This was the simple life that he lived.
Joe loved his church, his family and his friends. God in his love and mercy came for him on May 22 at NHC.
His beautiful funeral at Dry Creek baptist Church with Bro. Donald Owens officiating was evidence of the simple life of our friend and neighbor. He was layed to rest by his parents, John and Callie Moore Ayers, and brothers, Charles Brigham at Snow Hill Methodist Cemetery.
