Apple Orchard makes for pleasant fall day

We enjoyed an outing with daughter, Lisa Cripps, on Friday. The apple orchard in Buffalo Valley was one of our stops. They are just the nicest folks to buy from. We never leave there without having an extra portion given to us. The canning of apple butter and jelly will continue on for a few weeks, due to their kindness. After leaving the orchard, we traveled to Cookeville to eat at Cheddars. We really enjoy the food there.  It was a beautiful fall day and lovely to be out seeing God’s countryside.
It was good to have a visit from Brenda Womack Whittinghill of Athens West Virginia. She was raised on the adjoining farm just over the bridge. We loved her family and enjoy her visits when she return to DeKalb to visit her brother’s family, the Jimmy Womack family, of Jacobs Pillar. Jimmy’s wife, Becky visited on Tuesday. It was a good visit.
Continued get well prayers go out to the following: Suzanne Williams, Georgie Hawker, Patty Seal, and Tom Cripps.
Our community sends sympathy out to the family of Judy Slager. Judy’s grandson Jon has always been very special to our family. Our love and prayers go out to Dennis and Teresa, Holly and Preston, and Jon and Katie, as well as her brother, Jack. May God’s peace be with you.
We were sad to hear of the passing of Mr. Nolan Turner. The Frazier family loved Nolan. He and our late son, John Frazier, were best friends in Liberty High School. Our family and community send sincere sympathy to his family.
Louise Frazier enjoyed visiting with Fay Adkins last week. She is a precious lady and very helpful to those in need.
Looking ahead at Dry Creek Baptist Church Nov. 15 event, Church Family Thanksgiving Meal and Service; everyone is always welcome!
We often cook and can using salt, which enhances the favors in foods and suppresses bitterness, while amplifying sweetness. It reminds us of the scripture describing Jesus’ followers to be the “salt of the earth.” This requires us to love our enemies, make peace with others, and care for those in need. It is not an easy task, but God gives us the strength to accomplish this with a loving heart. Let us all strengthen each other and learn to embrace the world around us with a great flavor, removing all the bitterness and strife. This is a challenge for us all to strive toward, with God’s loving spirit we can all do better remembering Matthew 5:  13.
You are the salt of the earth.
