Rain, wind and a very chilly breeze came overnight Tuesday and greeted residents of the Dry Creek Valley on Wednesday morning. It is time for cooler weather. Expect frost Saturday that will hurt our beautiful summer flowers. Then a little warmer weather will be in the forecast.
We are enjoying some delicious apples that Edward Frazier brought us from Dayton. The Curley Winesap apples are great for making apple sauce and jelly. The Roman apple makes tasty red jelly. Then there is an apple crossed between a Yellow Delicious and a Granny Smith, which makes good pies and a green tart jelly. Thanks goes out to Edward for remembering our family.

Our community was saddened by the sudden and unexpected death of our neighbor, Barbara Colvert. She was a retired teacher of the DeKalb County School System and a native of White County.
Barbara was the faithful wife of Bro. Bobby Colvert, who for the past few months was in Woodbury Nursing Home. Our community extends sincere sympathy to the Colvert Family. She will be missed by her family and by all who knew her. May God comfort this family in the loss of its loved one.
I have just been told of the passing of our classmate, Sam Love. Only one or two remain alive of the DCHS Class of 1936: Otis Winnard, who doesn’t live here and Louise Keyt Frazier.
