Dry Creek Flashes
Remembering Ryan

The Frazier family received sad news this week with the passing of Ryan Frazier, the youngest son of Bruno and Geri Frazier of Kennesaw, Ga. Ryan was an accomplished student at Auburn University. He and his older brother Andrew enjoyed many trips over the years to Dry Creek, where they have a family farm.

Hours were spent exploring the hills, branches and creek. In December, Ryan spent a week enjoying winter break from school with his family in Tennessee. Ryan will be remembered for his kind nature, loving heart and radiant smile.

We are thankful for the beautiful gifts that Ryan brought to our world. Many family and friends attended the Celebration of Life Ceremony at Dry Creek Baptist Church. Bro. Donald Owens shared comforting words with the family. Ryan was laid to rest in the Dry Creek Cemetery beside his grandparents the late John Larry and Billie Ann Malone Frazier. The cemetery is near a hay field’s edge, where the peaceful sound of the flowing creek can be heard off in the distance.

Deborah Fuson of Cabot, Ark. and her son Jeff Fuson of Paris, Tenn, have returned home after a short visit with family last week.

Long-time Liberty farmer and friend Louis Fuson has gone to his heavenly home. It wasn’t uncommon for Louis to stop by and chat at the garden’s edge on his way home each day, offering a portion of his day’s picking along the way. He will be missed by fellow farmers in the Dismal Community, Lisa and Jerald Cripps, and his longtime friends Tom and Georgie Cripps.

Susan and Jerry Hinton visited Louise Frazier and Lisa Cripps Friday afternoon. Jerry is a CPA in Mt. Juliet, and Susan is a life-long educator. We enjoyed reminiscing over old stories of my walks up the Cubbins’ Hollow to visit with Ma Denton, who was an interesting lady in the neighborhood.

Bob Earl and Linda Fuston visited Louise Frazier on Thursday. It was good to see special friends at the end of a long day.

Wanda Poss is preparing another trip for the people of DeKalb County. This trip’s destination is Niagara Falls and the Toronto area in June. There is still a little room for a few travelers, so if you are interested give Wanda a call. We have fond memories of traveling with Ms. Wanda and Diamond Tours and wish her safe traveling.

Ready for Kindergarten classes started this week at Smithville Elementary School. The classes will consist of three training sessions for parents. These sessions will help parents learn how to work with their children using books and learning toys. Many parents of preschoolers attended in hopes of helping prepare their child for success in school. As grandparents, and parents, Lisa Cripps and Monica Reynolds are participating in the training.

Get-well wishes go out to Mark Willoughby, Sue Willoughby, and Tonya Sullivan.

These are good verses to read and remember in our daily lives to strengthen us as we cope with life’s challenges. "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea. Though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging." (Psalm 46:1-3) "Selah"
