We send happy first birthday wishes to Molly Adeline Reynolds, the daughter of David and Monica Reynolds of Alexandria. Molly’s birthday was celebrated by family and friends last Saturday at the Dry Creek Baptist Fellowship Hall. The birthday party was decorated with a nursery rhyme theme. The Three Blind Mice gathered around a cheese tray, deviled eggs represented Humpty Dumpty, and pork mini sandwiches were surrounded by the Three Little Pigs. Cake and punch was served to the guest, and in the afternoon Molly opened all of her useful gifts. A fun time was had by children and adults.
The big news in the Dry Creek Valley…A big barn! Jared Hendrix has a beautiful new barn, and it was put up in just a day. Residents were astonished by the swiftness and efficiency of its assembly. We ask Jared’s two year old son, Sawyer, what was going in the barn and he responded, "Hay."
Louise Bishop of Oregon will be visiting her daughter, Matilda Earl, at her home in the Dry Creek Valley. Ms. Bishop is a professor of English at the University of Oregon Honors College. She is looking forward to visiting with the folks in this area.
Monica Reynolds and Lisa Cripps enjoyed their second Parent University, Ready for Kindergarten class this week at Smithville Elementary. The classes are full of parents, grandparents, and guardians eager to learn purposeful play methods to help prepare their little ones for kindergarten.
The Ready Team encourages adults to Read twenty minutes a day to a young child. This will help promote a love of reading and help children develop an eagerness to continue investigating books. This Upper Cumberland area grant allows DeKalb County parents these resources and training. We appreciate DeKalb County School System’s personnel for taking their time and effort to support this learning.
