Mother's Day, a beautiful celebration

"Surpise!" was shouted as Justin and Jordan Cripps entered RiverWatch Golf Course for their 30th birthday celebration, planned by Nicole and Tiffany Cripps. The guests arrived at the beautiful golf course around 1 p.m. eagerly anticipating the guys’ arrival at 1:30 p.m. Jordan and Justin were told they were coming to play an early afternoon round of golf with their brother Matthew Cripps and Uncle Dwight Cripps.

The story worked, and the guys were very surprised to see all their friends and family there to enjoy the afternoon with them. The group enjoyed a meal prepared by the Olive Garden and cakes by the Cheese Cake Factory.

The beauty of the day added to the perfect ending for these two excited golfers as they journeyed out for a late afternoon round of golf.

We were glad to witness their surprise birthday party and enjoy the time as a family. We wish our grandsons health and happiness throughout their life.

Sunday was a Mother’s Day celebration at many of our churches and homes. It is always the second Sunday in May, honoring motherhood. If a person wears a colorful flower, it indicates their mother is living, but if it is white, their mother has passed away.

Years ago in England, it was called Mothering Sunday. Julia Ward Howe made the first known suggestion for the United States in 1872. Mother’s Day received national recognition on May 8, 1914. On that day, President Woodrow Wilson signed a joint resolution of Congress recommending that the departments of governments were authorized to proclaim Mother’s Day a National observance.

We want to send every mother a special well wish. Their job is tireless, and their love never ending.

Get-well wishes go out to Jane Hobson, Gail Kirksey. Both are recovering from knee surgery. Also, Eddie Hobson’s daughter, Edi, David Owens, Nolan Turner, Carolyn Mullinax’s daughter-in-law, and Martin Bell all stand in need of prayer.

Christ’s Inner Circle (Peter, James, and John ) (Matthew 26)

"And Jesus walking by the Sea of Galilee saw two brethren, James…and his brother, John…and they followed Him." (Matthew 4:18-22) May we all follow Him.
