Doris Roland, of Lebanon, Jessie Cripps, of Hendersonville, Corinne Clark, Aline Keith and Janie of White House all enjoyed a delicious dinner with Tom and Georgia Cripps at their home on Dismal Road on Saturday. That afternoon they attended a “Baby Tea” for Jordan and Nicole Cripps at the Dry Creek Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
It was good to see and talk with the Cripps’ ladies. Ailene Keith told us about a nice lady who was born and reared in the Cubbins Hollow in the Dry Creek Valley who now lives in White House. Her name is Agnes Cubbins Blackwell.
Agnes was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Cubbins. Her brother was the late John Emory Cubbins. Aline and Agnes attend the same Baptist church in White House.
We are so thankful for the rain which fell for about 15 minutes on last Tuesday afternoon. We are very dry in the valley and pray for more rain.
Many have birthdays in May. Our daughter, Peggy F. Thomas of Las Vegas, Nev., celebrated her birthday on May 5.
Justin and Jordan Cripps celebrated their birthday on May 3.
Others celebrating in May are our former neighbor, Jimmy Womack, May 7; Helen Burt, May 27; Fred Brockett, May 1; J.D. Reynolds, May 2; Ray David Hare and Regina Robinson, May 29.
Congratulations and happy birthday to these and to everyone celebrating in May.
Jeanette France visited Louise Frazier Wednesday morning.
Our community extends sincere sympathy to the family of Violet Fuson in its hour of sorrow. She was a very nice lady who devoted most of her retired life to volunteer work for cancer research and other charities and causes.
Violet’s father, Luther Fuson, taught at Dry Creek School when it was a junior high school. She will be sadly missed by the people who knew her and worked with her. She leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten soon.
May God comfort and bless her family. I feel that it was a privilege to have known Violet Fuson.
Lisa Cripps visited her mother, Louise Frazier on Tuesday evening.
Doris Roland, Jessie Cripps, Aline Keith and Janie and Corinne Clark visited Jim Cripps, Dwight Cripps and Joe Ayers on Saturday afternoon.
Henry and Natalie Frazier were the Sunday dinner guests of Louise Frazier. Other guests were Jordan and Nicole Cripps, Justin Cripps, Jim and Judy Kimbrell and Roger and Kathy Hendrix.
Bro. Donald Owens has preached a series of sermons at Dry Creek Baptist Church on “Gods Plan for One Another,
God’s plan for man to live together.” He listed a total of 30 points with scripture for each point. Here is point one, “Love one another” (John 13:34-35); point two, “Depend on one another” (Rom 12:5); point 30, “Bear ye one another’s burden” (Gal. 6:2).
If man would pattern his life by God’s plan for one another, what a wonderful world we would have to live in and enjoy life and our fellow man.
Upcoming events at Dry Creek Baptist Church include vacation bible school on June 16.
June 17 the church will celebrate Father’s Day and there will be an offering for Tennessee Baptist Adult.
Then on June 24 Dry Creek Baptist will have homecoming with guest minister Bro. Kenneth Tramel and guest singers will include The Owens and there will be a dinner at noon.
Please make plans to attend. Everyone is welcome, Bro. Don Owens, pastor.
