Jordan and Nicole Cripps along with Matthew and Melody Cripps of Murfreesboro are vacationing in Jamaica this week to celebrate their anniversaries. Their parents Lisa and Jerald Cripps will celebrate their 34th anniversary on June 24.
Kathy and Ricky Hendrix celebrated their birthdays this month with Jennifer and Jared Hendrix, David and Monica Reynolds of Alexandria, and Kenny Edge. The group enjoyed dinner out and a movie.
Summer school ended June 17 giving many adults and students a much-needed rest. The 2011-12 school year will begin for teachers July 25, not that long off. We appreciate all the long hours and hard work our teachers put into their jobs. May God bless their many efforts.
The Jamboree stand is already in place around the square. Many people are not able to attend anymore but are thankful to the Cookeville folks that tape this event each year so it can be watched on TV.
Elizabeth Chapel Baptist Church, Smithville, reported a wonderful Vacation Bible School last week. We thank God for the many faithful workers who care about the youth and children of our county.
Sunday was Fathers Day. Our girls were so blessed to have a wonderful father, the late Woodrow Frazier. He taught the children to have good work habits, how to drive at an early age, and the importance of education. All our children are blessed with husbands who are wonderful fathers. Happy Father’s Day to all and may God Bless you.
We send out well wishes to Mrs. Vena Fuston a dear friend who lives in Smithville, but raised her family here in the Dry Creek area.
It was during June hay cutting time, as we remember, the last time the late Gary Cripps, along with wife Wanda, and grandson Brody visited his family Mrs. Carl Cripps, Dwight, Jerald, and Lisa. Jerald took Brody for a ride on the tractor, while Dwight and Gary followed in the van. The family enjoyed laughing together that day and holds it as a precious memory. Gary was a wonderful loving man always eager to help people. His family and friends sadly miss him but look forward to Heaven’s reunion.
The Lighthouse Christian Camp is in full swing. This camp does a tremendous work for the youth of our area. It is evident that God has truly provided His blessing on this work. Please remember to support them with money and prayers. My daughter Lisa Cripps and Josh Agee enjoyed a wonderful meal with the campers on Wednesday. While there, they handed out Gideon Bibles to all the campers. I am reminded of a scripture in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Bro. Bill Robertson recently preached on this scripture, which reminds us when we accept God through faith we will want to do right in this world and not depart from God’s teaching to love and care for others, sharing the message of Christ everyday. Go by and visit the camp, volunteer, and ask them what their needs are, together we can all be a part of this great work the camp is doing.
We had a lot of friends to come by for a visit at the hospital this week. This always helps pass the long hours of the day. Recent visitors were Deborah and Danny Agee, Linda and Wayne Bush, Georgie Hawker, Gale Cripps, Jimmy and Becky Womack, my faithful pastor Bro. Donald Owens, neighbor and friend Jeanette France, Eastern Star friends Wanda Gard, Audrey Martin, Debbie Mathis and Billy Gassaway, Sunday School teacher Linda Franklin came with a wonderful fresh garden meal Tuesday night, and Brenda Whitinghill from West Virginia. She is home visiting her brother Jimmy Womack and stopped in to see her old friend Judy Kimbrell for a visit on Mill Hill.
Many people come in and out of the hospital daily but several folks stay for long periods of time. We see these people form our room taking walking therapy or going for test, they need your prayers.
Get well wishes go to Darwin Gard who came into DeKalb Hospital this week for test and later was sent to Nashville. His wife Wanda and daughters are steadfast at his side.
We are sorry to miss homecoming at Dry Creek Baptist Church June 26 but will report more on the celebration next week.
