åFor teachers, pupils, school bus drivers, etc., it is back to school in DeKalb County, and we are so proud of our public school system in our county.
Do you ever wonder why we have schools? Why do some children want to go to school while others dislike school?
There are many factors involved in the learning process.
The home, environment, school and, yes, the teachers. But we’ve been taught that before a child can learn he or she has to be ready and have the desire to learn.
We may call it “self-esteem,” or even “pride.”
We send our best wishes to everyone in the DeKalb County School System for a wonderful year of cooperation, progress and learning in the new year of 2012-13. We support you 100 percent.
And good luck to D.C.H.S. Football Tigers. We will be listening on WJLE.
Dry Creek Baptist Church was delighted to have Mary Snow of the Webb Retirement Center of Smithville to attend worship service last Sunday. Her son, Tom Snow, brought her to church.
Our community extends sincere sympathy to the family of Mr. Kenneth Moore of Snow Hill in its time of sorrow. May God in his love and mercy give comfort to the Moore family.
We send special get-well wishes to Debbie O’Conner, who is ill in a Hendersonville Hospital. Debbie is the daughter of Helen Burt.
Others on the sick list who need our prayers are James Hale, Brigham Ayers, Glen Faircloth, Faye Frazier, Mary Snow, Carroll Thomas, Austin Fuson and Mary and Bobby Joines. Our love, prayers and best wishes go to all these sick and shut-ins.
Lisa Cripps visited her mother, Louise Frazier, Tuesday evening.
Ms. Jeanette France is so generous with her vegetable garden. She visited her close neighbor, Louise, to share her tomatoes, cucumbers and okra.
It was so good to hear from Amon and Lucy Snyder. Lucy had to have some needed surgery, so Amon stayed at N.H.C. until Lucy could bring him home.
Now both are at home on Goose Creek near Alexandria and Lucy reports that Amon can really get around the house in his wheelchair. So happy to report that this nice couple is doing well and happy to be home.
They are missed at the DeKalb County Retired Teachers meetings and Order of the Eastern Star meetings.
We are truly grateful for recent rains which were needed everywhere.
