There was excitement in the valley early last Monday as cars and trucks began to crank up and head down Dry Creek to Highway 70 and on to the Murfreesboro exit. It was the families of Jared and Jennifer Hendrix rushing to be with their children who were already checked in the Middle Tennessee Medical Center to have their first baby.
Retired Kathy Hendrix arrived very soon followed by all the kinfolk who were able to give their support.
Bro. Donald Owens, Jared’s pastor, was present to offer prayer. The day soon slipped away.
After school, Ricky Hendrix and Lisa Cripps joined the group. At 6 p.m. Jared took the long, white hospital gown and cap and put them on as directed.
The doctor, nurses and Jared went into the operating room with Jennifer. Then finally at 6:22 p.m. the doctor handed a big, bouncing boy to his dad. Sawyer Allen Hendrix weighted 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 21 inches long.
Having Sunday dinner at the home of Louise Frazier were Michele Kent and Brandon, Elizabeth and Olivia Miller, Lascasses, Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell, Old Mill Hill Road, Ricky and Kathy Hendrix, Jared and Jennifer Hendrix, Jordan and Nicole Cripps and Christine, Dry Creek, Justin Cripps, Tiffany Waggoner, both of Smithville, and David and Monica Reynolds and Levi of Alexandria.
Wanda Cripps, Mt. Juliet, and Jerald and Lisa Cripps were the dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Jim Cripps, Dwight and Joe.
Garry and Betty Mullican were in Donelson Monday for Garry’s appointment with is doctor.
Get-well wishes go to Judy Kimbrell who is taking medication for a viral infection and is staying home. Best wishes Judy.
Van Hoosier Stadium was packed on the evening of Sept. 28 when DCHS Tigers were at battle for a district game with the York Dragons. Like the Tigers, York Institute was unbeaten. To make the game more interesting and create more excitement, a helicopter landed with Channel 4’s longtime sportsman Rudy Kalis who had a segment of the game on the 10 p.m. sports news.
We hope all DeKalb fans stayed up to see it.
The Tigers looked good dressed in their black uniforms. Very impressive, we would say with a “big” win over York 47-19. Wow!
We’re just praying for a win over Livingston. We believe the Tigers will be fired up when they meet.
Faye Fuqua told me who the Driver Tiger was, Frazier “kinfolk” through the Haas family. “Go Driver Tiger.”
