Mrs. Helen Burt spent Saturday with her sister Mrs. Audrey Frazier at her home in Smithville.
It was good to see Ivadell Randolph, Joel Dawes, Katherine Pack and Tony Cross at Elizabeth Chapel Church Saturday evening.
Ivadell says that her husband is not well this week. We send best wishes to him.
We also talked with Wanda Guard and Lillie Vaughn. Lillie told me about her brother Henry DuHout’s family in Colorado.
It is always good to see friends and hear from their families.
Henry B. and Natalie Frazier and son, Tyler of Huntsville, Ala. spent the weekend here working at their new residence on their farm. It is nearing completion and the family will be able to live there on weekends.
Jeanette France attended the Caney Fork Electric meeting at the Civic Center in McMinnville Saturday.
She reported that the meeting was successful, and that it was a very nice day for all who attended, good entertainment and delicious refreshments.
Dry Creek Baptist Church has been providing a great service for this community and for anyone who chooses to attend the mid-week prayer service at the church.
Since Bro. Donald Owens has been pastor, 2001, the church has provided a hot meal and served it to everyone attending the Wednesday evening prayer meeting.
A hot meal is also delivered to sick and shut-in members. This Wednesday the church had the “Famous Dry Creek Fish Fry.”
It just happens that Dry Creek Baptist Church is so blessed with several good members who are outstanding fishermen of DeKalb County. Those members include Ben Franklin, a long-time wildlife man in DeKalb County; Danny Agee, who knows the lake and how to catch fish; Jimmy Kimbrell, who was born and raised in a fishing boat with his parents on water streams near Iron City and Lawrenceburg; and Steve London of Cookeville Highway, he is also another avid fisherman.
These men catch fish, clean them and freeze them until they have enough for the fish fry at Dry Creek Baptist.
These generous gentleman enjoy this event every year. Standing by their men are their talented wives Linda and Deborah.
Ben and Linda Franklin made the delicious hush puppies. Others fried the fish and did the necessary work to make this event successful.
A large number of members and guests attended and enjoyed this once-a-year event at Dry Creek Baptist.
We would like to thank all who worked to make this event a success and thanks go to all our guests who attended.
Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Louise Frazier were Mr. and Mrs. Henry B. Frazier and Jacob Tyler of Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Monica Reynolds, Levi, Alexandria, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kimbrell, Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Hendrix, and Mr. and Mrs. Jared Hendrix and Sawyer Allen.
Bro. W.L. Baker of Lebanon 104 years old, and still proclaiming the Bible, was guest speaker at Dry Creek Baptist Church at the Sunday evening worship service.
November will be our next month. When we think of this month we are reminded of the Pilgrims who came to America and how God had blessed them with an abundant harvest so that they prepared a festive meal which we now observe as Thanksgiving.
Dry Creek Baptist Church Thanksgiving dinner and service will be on Nov. 14.
Dec. 2 will be the week of prayer for Lottie Moon International Christmas Missions.
Attend church! Everyone is welcome to come to Dry Creek Baptist Church, Bro. Don Owens, pastor.
If it be possible...live peacefully with all men. (Romans 12:18).
