Dry Creek Flashes

What a beautiful sunny day we had last  Monday morning. The birds are singing and perhaps saying “thank you” in their own language to the kind lady who had just filled all the bird feeders with fresh sunflower seed.
In many places in the world people are happy and enjoying life, but in our beautiful Dry Creek Valley many of its residents are both sad and happy.
Bro. Donald Owens, pastor at Dry Creek Baptist, called early morning on Jan. 7 to relate the expected news that one of our members, beloved Audrey Vandagriff Frazier, had departed from her earthly home and gone to her eternal heavenly home.
We in the valley are sad because we won’t see, talk with or have her with us anymore. We are happy because her pain is gone, and she will not suffer from her illness anymore. God took her and in his book he has promised this to believers, and we believe.
We pray for her daughter, Sherry, and her sons, Richard, David and Randall and their families and to her sister, Helen Burt, during this time of sorrow.
Lisa Cripps of Liberty spent Saturday with her mother Louise Frazier and helped her with chores.
Mr. Tom Cripps of Liberty has not been well this week. Please remember him in your prayers.
Our neighbor Jeanette France is good to keep tabs on her neighbors. Thank you, we might need your help. We never know when neighbors will need one another. So in 2013 let us think of others.
We say hello to Edward Frazier of Smithville who fell during the Christmas holidays at his home and needed emergency services. He is now resting on a hospital bed at his home. Best wishes and our love go to this nice gentleman.
We found out about our friends in London, England, Dawson and Clair Parker. We knew these two boys when they were little, Jerry and Dawson Parker, sons of Hudson and Bertha Mae Parker, grandsons of Valter and Verna Fuston of the upper Dry Creek Valley.
Dawson and Claire’s daughter, Sarah, got married several months ago.
We wrote about her cousin, Susan, an accomplished musician, flying over to London to play at her wedding in the Dry Creek Flashes. The Parkers were thanking us for the write-up.
We found out through relatives that Dawson Parker is the “top” manager of the big department store in London, Harrods, and most of his family work there.
Can you imagine a little boy from the valley living in a mansion in London and being top-head manager of Harrods in London, England? We can.
Congratulations Dawson and Claire, and best of luck for 2013 and for your family.
Dawson’s brother, Jerry Parker and Brenda visit often in London. We say hello to them in Murfreesboro.
Judy Kimbrell spent Monday helping with the chores at the home of her mother, Louise Frazier.
Did you watch the “big game”? Number-one Notre Dame vs Number-two Alabama, Alabama is so good. Our family cheered for Alabama’s football team.
The Frazier family have alumnus of the university, grandchildren of the late John and Billie Malone Frazier.
Congratulations on a big win.
Ted Edge’s children are alumni of the University of Alabama.
Dry Creek Baptist Church is planning some important evens for 2013. Watch for them in the Dry Creek Flashes for these dates.
We welcome the DeKalb-Middle Tennessee Times to join the Smithville Review.
Reading is such a pleasure. Be glad you can read and understand.
We say hello to Shirley Ingram who writes the Amen Corner.
Attend church in 2013. Dry Creek Baptist welcomes visitors, Bro. Don Owens, pastor.
May the God of hope fill you...so that you may overflow with hope. (Rom. 15:13).
