Dry Creek Flashes

As the sun comes over the horizon, we have the assurance of another beautiful day to enjoy life and God’s creation.
The humming birds have been seen every day since before Mother’s Day. They are still in great numbers on the patio, going from petunia blooms to mandavillo blooms, pansies and countless other blooms available on the patio. We haven’t seen the Ruby Throated Hummingbird this year. They have been seen in past years.
The deer are preparing for winter by grazing in the growing hayfield and their color is changing for the winter months.
We had rain overnight and into the day, ending about noon. It is breezy here in the valley. We are thankful for the rain. It has been very dry.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Parker of Murfreesboro attended church at Dry Creek Baptist Church and attended the funeral of Mrs. Louise Christian Frazier, wife of Mr. Edsel Frazier. The service was held at DeKalb Funeral Home in Smithville, Sunday afternoon.
The Pea Ridge Reunion was held Sept. 10, at the Pea Ridge Community Center, with 35 classmates and teachers present.
For some reason, this was not the normal attendance.
The Clay Cook family was well represented. We believe all the boys except Gene Cook were present. We remember that this family always supported Pea Ridge School. We missed the Cook women, Beatrice and Wilma, who live in Arizona.
We didn’t see any of Palmer Cook’s Family. John and Betty Helen were missed.
Van Davis of McMinnville, and Donnie and Genrose Davis of Liberty attended. Mike Davis, who lives on the corner as you go in the Pea Ridge Community, always attends.
High School principal, Kathy Hendrix brought her mother, Louise K. Frazier. Other teachers attending were Bobby Jean Thomas and Jan Thomas, Smithville and Jenelle Pugh, Dowelltown. Sadly missed was Mr. Clyde Thomas, the man who enjoyed this reunion and was responsible for picture-taking. We also missed Lisa Cripps. Lisa had another commitment for Saturday.
Special get-well wishes go to Dr. Richard Jones of Smithville, who is confined to his home by illness. Dr. Jones is an active member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. He is greatly missed by his church family. Our prayers, love and best wishes go to him for a quick recovery.
Tawaina Box of Franklin and Nakayah Box of Murfreesboro visited Ms. Jennette France, Sunday.
Jennette is recovering from surgery and was able to attend church at First Methodist in Smithville, Sunday.
Dr. Natalie Frazier of Huntsville, Ala. came to the Dry Creek Valley, Sunday, for the baby tea given, honoring Mrs. Monica Reynolds at the Dry Creek Baptist Fellowship Hall.
She was showered with many useful gifts. Many blessings to those who attended and showed their love for this dear mother-to-be and husband, David.
Dry Creek Community extends sincere sympathy to Mr. Edsel Frazier and family in the death of his wife, Mrs. Louise Frazier.
Louise had suffered many years and been confined to her home by this illness. She is no longer in pain in the eternal home prepared for all Christians. May God comfort and bless this family.
Dry Creek Baptist W.M.S. and church went over their goal of $1,400. $1,858 was sent to the Golden Missions for Tennessee. Thanks for giving.
