On last Wednesday, as predicted by weather forecasters, the clouds became very dark between 3 and 3:30 p.m., damaging winds and heavy rains came through the Dry Creek Valley.
The damage from the storm was mostly uprooted trees in the valley.
At the Jeanette France Farm, a large tree was uprooted near her gate and fell toward the house over planted plants. There was no damage to her house.
At the Aunt Tassie Cathcart Farm, a huge tree was uprooted and covered the front yard with the top of the tree resting on the roof of the porch. The owner was not home, but it is believed that there was no damage to the house.
More trees fell as a result of the storm. Going on up the valley to neighboring Cross Roads, there were uprooted trees in the fields and beyond Mt. Herman Church. Brenda Bates’ garden was destroyed and damage to L.C. Tramel’s garden, mostly the corn was blown to the ground.
We are thankful that no lives were lost.
Dwight Cripps celebrated his birthday July 19 at his home in the valley. On July 14 his family gathered at the homeplace with a special dinner and gifts for Dwight.

Be very careful how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. (Eph. 15-16 Niv.).
