The Pope said that he was going to use more women in the Catholic Church. We believe that is good.
In industry, business and schools there is always someone carrying a heavy load on his or her shoulders. Many times that is a woman who is smart and eager to do a good job in whatever position she may work. This applies also to housewives who have so many responsibilities.
We believe farmers depend greatly on women. Last week we saw Michele Hendrix Kent in her daddy’s tractor cutting his hayfield for him.
Ricky had to be at DeKalb West School. Michele did a good job in cutting the hay, it was bailed just before the rain came.
Teach your children how to work. You never know when you might need them.

Jerald and Lisa Cripps of Liberty and Wanda Cripps of Mt. Juliet attended the funeral of Ophah Cripps Turner in Murfreesboro Wednesday.
She was 88 years old and a sister-in-law to Jim Crips of the Dry Creek Valley.
This community extends sincere sympathy to the Turner and Cripps families in the loss of their loved one. May they look to God to comfort them in their hour of need.
Ophah was the daughter of the late Levi and Pearl Elledge Cripps and was a native of Dry Creek Valley.
Those celebrating August Birthdays include my own grandchildren Jared and Michele, who celebrated on Aug. 1 and Aug. 5. They are the children of Roger and Kathy Hendrix of Dry Creek Valley and grandchildren of Louise Frazier.

Congratulations and may they enjoy many more happy birthdays.
Georgia Hawker is improving slowly from a recent stay in the University Medical Center in Lebanon. Our prayers, love and best wishes go to Georgia.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Charles Kellar from his friends in the Dry Creek Valley. He was the husband of the late Dean Cripps Kellar and was a former member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. “To know him was to love him.” He was a brother-in-law to June Lewis of Lebanon.
After having been in Cookeville Hospital last week, Ruth White is now at her home in Dowelltown. Our prayers, love and best wishes go to Ruth.
We needed a rain, and it showered every day last week, but Thursday it was a flood of rain all day. Maybe the good Lord knows best what we need. High winds came in with the rain too. We are thankful for whatever we get.
A herd of deer, about 25 including five or six fawns and the crows and squirrel, have eaten the pears and apples in our back yard. They eat early in the morning and late in the evening.
Our beloved Bro. W.L. Baker died on his 105th birthday. Dry Creek Baptist Church loved Bro. Baker and the effort he resolved to do as a minister of God by filling the pulpit every first Sunday evening at Dry Creek Baptist.
Dry Creek Baptist Church welcomes everyone to attend with Sunday school at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. Bro. Don Owens, pastor.
My Salvation and my Honor depend on God, He is my mighty Rock, my Refuge. (Psalm 62:7).
