Dry Creek Flashes

Up and down the valley there are signs of fall. We are beginning to see patches of the most beautiful flower wild flowers, the Goldenrod. There are patches along the road of the tiny black-eyed susan, a yellow like daisy flower with a dark cone shaped center.
The goldenrod has long branches with clusters of small yellow flowers that appear in the late summer and blooms through out fall.
Another wild flower that grows up and down the valley is the goldenglow, a tall hardy plant with doubled yellow that we see all summer and fall until frost. All of these wildflowers are blooming now.
If you see the deer every day, you will notice that the coat is turning a little darker each day to a dark brown almost black color for the winter months. We have no answer as to what this does, but it happens every year.
The persimmons are turning yellow, but  don’t eat just yet. After a frost, they will begin to turn into an orange color and have a sweet taste. Before frost, the persimmon will be bitter. Trust my experience it was bad.
Special get-well wishes go to Elain Garrison our neighbor in the valley who fell at her home and was taken by ambulance to Cookeville Hospital for treatment on Saturday.  Elaine is now home recovering from her injury. Our prayers, love and best wishes go to her as she recovers.
Kathy Hendrix and Sawyer visited Georgia Owens and Elaine garrison on Tuesday.
Lisa Cripps, Dismal Rd Liberty, visited her mother Louise Frazier on Tuesday evening. She brought her a hot meal of Kigore’s catfish and helped her with canning  Rome applesauce.
Jimmy Kimbrell and Judy and Steve and Judy Beard of St. Joseph went to the East Tennessee Vegetable Gardens to buy fall vegetables and cabbage to make kraut on Saturday.
Hooray way to go  DCHS Tigers and congratulation on your win 35-28 over rival Livingston Wildcats. This was good news for all the Tiger fans. This victory came after 19 years of losing to Livingston.
Jimmy  Kimbrell who takes Gatorade to the Tigers was shouting his praise over the big win. Just one point over would have been great but 35-28 is awesome.
We are all saying we hope Coach Trapp gets “Coach of the Week.” He is competing with several other coaches. The Titans began honoring Tennesssee high school coaches in 1998.

She will be seeing a Specialist in several days who will help her with her health problems. Our prayers, love and best wishes go to Georgia.
