This week’s weather has been fabulous for one to sit out on the patio in the late afternoons. We have enjoyed seeing the cranes returning to their spot near the water’s edge. They announce their flying over with a trumpeting honk sound. The deer and birds are feeding early morning and late afternoon on the pear tree just on the edge of our yard. The flowers on the patio are still beautiful thanks to their daily watering by family and friends. The two decorative gourds Gail Frazier and Justin Cripps purchased at the jamboree are beautiful to look at. Both are hand painted with one being a chime and the other a bird house. The trees parallel to the creek are blocking my view from the old cave entrance on the Womack’s farm. Occasionally we see the path of flashlights of folks going into or out of the cave. Over the years a few spelunkers have lost their way and the sirens of the rescue squad could be heard. Thankfully they have always been able to bring out the wayward person to safety.
We are still canning plum butter and jelly. Larry’s Discount had some really good plums this year. Cucumbers have continued to come into the house to be canned. This has really been a good season for the garden vegetables. Kathy Hendrix fixed a wonderful meal straight out of her garden just down the road on Sunday and Monday.
We send out get well wishes to Edward Frazier, Nolan Turner, Pauline Frazier, and Marguerite Jones. It was good to hear Jerry Hinton enjoyed his birthday with family and friends. Happy Birthday Jerry. We send Happy Birthday wishes to Jared Hendrix (1st), Michele Kent (5th), Linda Bush (12), and David Reynolds (26).
A lot of people as how it feels to be 100 years old. It really doesn’t feel any different. We still enjoy God’s beauty, out family and friends. The daily work of canning is still enjoyable. Friends and family are always welcome to come by for a visit.
One of the great-grandsons gets a little anxious when he can’t see one of his parents or at least a grandparent. He needs the reassurance of being watched over. That reminded me of our relationship with God. We need to always seek out a close relationship with our Heavenly Father. We need to realize He loves us and knows our need to be watched over in every aspect of life. We can try to make it on our on, but just like this little one, it is so comforting to know we are never out of His watchful eye. Hallelujah. Psalm 27:8 Your face, Lord, I will seek.
