Dry Creek Flashes
Muscadine time

It has rained a slow, steady, rain overnight Tuesday in the beautiful Dry Creek Valley. We need rain, as everything is dry. It will perk up the pastures and hayfields.
We managed to get two quarts of nice purple muscadines and a gallon of white muscadines  from Judy Redmon of Liberty. The purple ones came from East Tennessee when the Kimbrells went on their trip.
The harvest of fresh vegetables and fruits is plentiful this year, and we should be thankful. The nest vegetables will be all kinds of greens. We like a mixture of mustards and turnip greens. We canned and froze both curly mustard mixed with turnip greens. Picking them hurts your back. Anyone know a solution?
Sorry to learn of the death of Phillip Hale of the Pea Ridge Community. We had his sweet girls in school at Pea Ridge. We send sincere sympathy to the Hale family.
Mr. Jimmy Womack of Smithville was in the valley this Wednesday morning and visited his former neighbor Louise Frazier. Louise has known him since he was a little boy and lived just across the creek from the W.O. Womack family. It was good to see Jimmy. He doesn’t visit the valley too often.
Helen Burke has checked on her daughter, Debbie O’Conner, who we believe is at home after having major surgery in Nashville. Our prayers, love, and best wishes go to Debbie for a successful full recovery.
We say hello to Robert Robinson, the nice gentleman who sold us the canning jars at the yard sale. They are almost filled with purple hull peas from Jeff Cantrell and Rome applesauce from Griffins Fruit Market. They will come in handy for our Sunday dinners.
We love canning our Winter food. It is so much better than store bought freezer food.
