This Monday morning the sky is cloudy and a brisk breeze is blowing up and down the valley.
We are thankful for our people who are well and able to be up and about. We are sorry to have to report that our neighbor, Nora Harvey, had to be taken to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville on Saturday due to an accident that happened while she was riding her horse near her home in the Valley.
She has broken ribs and chest injuries, but with medical care she will be on her way to recovery. May God bless Nora and her family as she recovers.
Ms. Jeanette France had her daughter, Tawiana Box and family of Franklin, for Christmas dinner, and Tim’s daughters of Smithville. She reported a nice Christmas Day at her house.
Helen Burt is recovering from heart-valve surgery at St. Thomas Hospital. She is at the home of her daughter, Vicki Corley of Alexandria, and doing well. Our prayers, love and best wishes go to Helen as she recovers.

The children of Mrs. Nonnie Tramel visited her during the Christmas season.
Bob Earl and Linda Fuston of Smithville, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Roehner, and Kathy Hendrix visited Bobby and Mary Joines on Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Joines had Christmas Eve dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Crook.
We received a interesting letter from Jerry Parker of Murfreesboro in regards to our column about “Ma Denton” of the Cubbins Hollow.
She was Jerry’s great-great grandmother. He also sent some pictures. One was of Jerry and the late Janice Davis Edge standing by “Ma Denton” in the Cubbins Hollow when they were children.
It was a good picture. Another picture was of some Dry Creek Folk, namely Jane Vandergriff and Charlie Vandergriff. If we remember correctly, John D. and Howard Vandergriff were their sons, and their daughter was Lucille Vandergriff.
Clifton Vandergriff, the youngest of the family left home, went to Salt Lake City, married a girl of the Mormon belief, and made his home and place to rear his children. He and his family visited his Tennessee home many years. We are not sure if Clifton is still living.
Readers, call 615-536-5286 if you know about these people who are searching for relatives and need help finding them. Thank you.
