As I write this it is November 11, 2013, Veterans Day. It is a day to honor, appreciate, and respect our military.
If they are living, tell them you appreciate what they have done for our country. Most that I loved and respected have gone on to a better home.
All of my brothers served in the military, and all but one in wars. Our precious son, Joe Ronald Frazier, was in Vietnam. He was a brave soldier who received a special award for bravery.
My brother Charles Keyt was one of the soldiers to leave Smithville in World War II, and he never had a furlough home until after the war.
My husband was gone three years overseas in the Navy, leaving his family, two boys, one girl, and his wife. It wasn’t easy.
Thousands of others also had loved ones go to war.
We thank Edward and Edsel Frazier for all they did in the military. They were just young men when they walked out of the beautiful Dry Creek Valley to Smithville to answer their country’s call to go to war. It goes on and on, so today we say “Thank you” to all who serve and to those who never came back home, we honor you today.”
Levi Brandon Reynolds, son of David and Monica Reynolds of Alexandria, celebrated his second birthday with a hundred relatives and friends at the Dry Creek Baptist Fellowship Hall Saturday. Refreshments of homemade chili, bbq on wheat buns, chips and dips, birthday cake and a variety of drinks were served.
Michele Kent brought homemade strawberry ice cream. Levi received many useful gifts, toys and clothes.
Also having a birthday in November is Danny France, who celebrated Nov. 16. Danny has recovered from his accident and has gone back to his work as pharmacist at Kroger. We are happy for this young man to be able to work again.
His brother Tim France of Smithville celebrates his birthday November 17. Congratulations and Happy Birthday to all who celebrate in the month of November.
Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell of Old Mill Hill Road visited church members, friends, and other patients at NHC in Smithville on Monday.
The big event for the season for the children is in the valley this Tuesday morning. A fierce northern wind is blowing and with it snow flakes are visible on the fallen maple leaves.
A scant accumulation, but most of the snow flakes are melting. In the afternoon, the sun was shining.
Jerald and Lisa Cripps attended the baby dedication of Owen Wyatt Cripps of Murfreesboro, son of Mathew and Melody Cripps, which was held Nov. 10 at the World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro.
Kathy and Ernie Cario also attended. There were 40 children dedicated. The dedication prayer was Deuteronomy 6:4-7.
Kathy Hendrix and Sawyer Hendrix visited Georgia Hawker and Bobby and Mary Joines on Wednesday. Georgia is much better from her recent illness.
Bobby and Mary remain about the same, they appreciate all the visitors.
Dry Creek Community extends sincere sympathy to the family of Claudette Frazier Lasser in their time of sorrow. May they rely on God for comfort and understanding.
Our prayer is that God will bless, help you through your hour of need and continue to keep you in His care. “Casting all your care upon Him for He careth for you.” (Peter 5:7)
Those attending the funeral at Love-Cantrell Funeral Home from out of the county were Charles Vernon Bass and Ted and Selene Lum of Cincinnati, Ohio; Richard Frazier and family of Washington D.C.; Janie Frazier and Cathy Frazier and Harry and Sherry Williams and family from Knoxville; Randall Frazier and grandson of Dickson; Linda Reynolds and son Daniel from Cookeville; Rita Fuson Frazier of Hermitage, and Jack and Helen Frazier of Cunningham.

Thanksgiving is the big holiday for the month of November, and we have a special dinner with the old standard, turkey and dressing with the delicious cooked cranberries.
We fix the old-fashioned dressing for some family members, and the sausage dressing for the younger generation.
Thanksgiving dinner and service will be Nov. 20 at Dry Creek Baptist Church. Bro. Kenneth is a native of the Dry Creek Valley. He will be relating what he is thankful for in his life. It will be wonderful.
Everyone is invited to come to this special service. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
