We say thank you to the fire department and to the volunteer fireman, Brian Williams, who installed 10-year battery operated fire alarms in many houses in the Dry Creek valley Saturday.We appreciate the fire departments for applying for this grant to help provide these alarms.Our community extends sincere sympathy to Bobby and Martha Melching and Gail Kirskey in the loss of baby Knox.Dry Creek valley extends sincere sympathy to the family of Mattie Jo McGinnis, a sweet lady who lived at Smithville and worked with the DeKalb County School System in the Title 1,2, and 3 government programs. The McGinnis family moved to the Frazier hollow in the Dry Creek valley in the early 1940s. Mattie Jo married Tom McGinnis.
