It is income tax time again. We used to think that when you got to be 70 years old that you wouldn’t have to pay this tax anymore.
Think again. The truth is, you pay it until you die.
Well, we have just finished getting ours together, so it is ready for the tax accountant, one you trust and rely on every year.
In the valley it isn’t too cold, but we have an overcast, cloudy day. The clothes line is full for the first time in over a week. It has been cold, it has rained, and yes we had a dusting of something that looked like snow on the hard-frozen earth.
It was good to talk with county historian Tommy Webb several days ago. He sounded like he was ready for warmer weather.
It was so good to get a call from Edward Frazier, who is in Castle Heights Rehab Center in Lebanon.
Thanks to my good friend, Jerry Parker of Murfreesboro, for the the picture of Edward in Castle Heights Rehab reading the Dry Creek Flashes. People do read.
Dr. Neely operated on Edward’s knee last week. He is doing just fine. Susan Hinton and Frances Frazier were visiting with Edward.
Edward is a well-known veteran of WWII and one of the best nurserymen in DeKalb County. The Frazier family love each other, and our prayers and best wishes for a full recovery go to this man.
We might add that Edward is a native of our beautiful valley, and he loves the valley, Dry Creek Baptist Church and the people who live here.
Our neighbor, Bobby Joines, spent several days last week in Centennial Hospital in Nashville. He is at his home for a few days but will be returning to Centennial for more tests. His daughter, Tammy Crook, is with him. Bob E. and Linda Fuston and Jimmy and Judy Kimbrell visited him Sunday. Please pray for the Joines family.
Dry Creek Community extends its deepest sympathy to Mrs. Ruth White, Bobby and Stephen White and families and other relatives and friends in the death of Mr. James White of Dowelltown. James was a well-known citizen who was postmaster at the Dowelltown Post Office for many years. He will be greatly missed by his church, his family, his community, and by all who knew him. Ms. Jeanette France attended his funeral.
An update on Bobby Joines - he is now back in Centennial Hospital for his health condition. His daughter, Tammy Crook, is with him. We pray for Bobby at his time of need. May God bless him.
Mrs. Helen Burt is still recovering from recent surgery at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. Hello to Helen and may God bless you.
Hello to Anthony Wright. We pray for Anthony to be completly healed, and that he can continue an active life with his family.
