 DWS Recognizes 8th Grade Class

DeKalb West School honored the 36 students of its 8th grade class in a ceremony Tuesday (May 18) morning.

Kenson Moss ranked #1 in his class with a grade point average of 3.902 followed by Emily Young with a GPA of 3.778, Caroline Crook, 3.748, Thomas Damron, 3.682, and Bradley Pelham, 3.573.

Named to the Principal’s list (All A Honor Roll) were Caroline Crook, Thomas Damron, Chloe Dies, Kenson Moss, Bradley Pelham, and Emily Young. On the A & B Honor Roll were Lauren Fry, Wesley Kent, Caleb Lawson, and Bryna Pelham. In the subject awards Kenson Moss picked up certificates for Algebra I, English Language Arts, History, and Science; Emily Young took home certificates for ELA, History, and Science; Caleb Lawson and Bryna Pelham won the Math award.

Chloe Dies, Caleb Lawson, Emily Young, and Noah Shoffner were honored with the Citizenship Award. The Most Improved went to Allie Overstreet, Bryson Stanley, Elijah Davis, and Tyler Jackson. Owen Coffee, Bradley and Bryna Pelham received the 4 PAWS Award. Lauren Fry was presented with the Mrs. Georgia Young Award. Computer awards went to Ava Cantrell, Rebecca Gingerich and Jonathan Stanley, Library awards went to Emily Young and Hailey Redmon, Music Awards went to Jordyn Turbeville and Chloe Cook, P.E. certificates went to Dakota Allen and Andy Shahan, STEAM award went to Lauren Fry and Christian Hale and the Guidance awards went to Jordyn Turbeville and Sadie Strawser. The Jr. Beta Club Cumulative Service Award was given to Thomas Damron for the Most Overall Hours since becoming a member with 105.5.

Librarian Amanda Mullinax presented the 2020-2021 Top Readers awards to Wesley Kent and Hailey Redmon from Antoniak’s homeroom and Bradley Pelham and Caroline Crook from France’s homeroom. Cheyenne Young earned the Accuracy Award for scoring 95% or better on her Accelerated Reader quizzes. Kenson Moss received a certificate for 1,000+ AR points; Thomas Damron, 800 pts, Caroline Crook, 600 pts, Chloe Dies, Wesley Kent, Hailey Redmon, and Bradley Pelham, 500 pts, Bryna Pelham, 400 pts, Lauren Fry, Rebecca Gingerich, and Daniel Stiffler, 300 pts, Chloe Cook, 200 pts, and Bryson Stanley, 100 pts.
