Smithville First Baptist Church Provides an Early Thanksgiving

Smithville First Baptist Church served more than 130 DeKalb County families at the annual Community Day November 16. People picked up food for a holiday meal along with coats and other winter clothing at the church’s Life Enrichment Center.
“We see the needs just like Jesus saw the needs,” church pastor Chad Ramsey says. “The scripture says over and over Jesus was moved to compassion, and we feel like through compassion that we have, we see needs in our community. This is one way to meet those needs.”
Smithville F.B.C members put feet to their faith by following their mission, “Love God, Love Others.”
“Smithville FBC continues to have a passion to reach our community to show them who Jesus is,” says Ramsey. “If we truly love God, we are going to love others. This outreach is to help the needs of the community. It’s also to help people come to have a better relationship with the church body. We believe part of being a believer is to be connected to a congregation. We want to show people who we are and what we are.”
Pastor Ramsey says church members were touched by the experience.
“We are able to connect with others as we do it and to show that we really do care. There’s no judging going on. We’re just here because God has called us to love others. It’s made a huge impact in our church to see people where they’re at, and that’s the kind of church we are, and It’s also the kind of church we want to continue to be is the church that really sees people in all areas of life. No matter where you are, we’re all God’s children and we’ve all been made by God. We have a relationship with God, but we also have the opportunity to love on others as well.”
Ramsey says anyone who is still in need of winter clothing can get items at the Hope Center located on Highway 70 next to Walmart. The center is open the first,
