Musings of an old guy

Okay, so now I understand the facets of being a hermit. I don't get out much, so I kind of rely on TV, radio and the newspaper to keep me up to date. You see, usually I'm outside doing something a gardener would do. You know, like figuring out which trees have to come down this winter, and which plants I have to move either this fall or coming spring. Then there's how am I going to expand the garden and get better control over the weeds; this darn creeping bermuda grass.
As you can see, my worries are of great importance, and you know I spend hours musing about every one of them.
Then I ruin my day. I turn on the TV. Stupid; I have be stupid! I rarely watch regular TV programs because most of them are set-up so we'll just get dumber and dumber. They're designed to keep us away from the more important "reality" of real life.
Then there’s the programs that show us how very uninformed we are. Especially the law shows with all the scientific info that scares us into being complacent, because who knows when a human might make a human error. Now the "news".
Ever since 911, I guess I watch the news way too much. The difference of opinions, from station to station is and I mean, really is downright scary.
There are very crazy people in every part of the political arena; left, right and center. Everyone of them want what they want and don't care what the other guy wants.
My darn generation did that to this country. We went through WW2, the 40s, the 50s, the Korean War, and we didn't want our kids to have less than we did. So, we gave them more. And, because of how we lived our tough life style, we rarely used the word ‘no.’ So, the generation that is now (not) running things, still demands something.
They expect that it’s their right to get it regardless of the consequenses. The Progressives want to control everything there is, because "regular" people just don't know right from wrong. or what's really best for them; and they do! The Liberals feel that God is a four letter word that keeps people from the truth as they see it (we, know better...don't tell them.)
The far right...what a bunch. There are some as bad as Hitler, Mao and Hugo.  The right, or as they'd prefer to be called "Conservitives", they like the idea of turning everything loose, light on regulation and heavy on DIY “do it yourself.”
The center, now there’s a position I don't envy. It’s gilled with little bits of every group and no real belief of their own except the one thing that holds all the groups together...vompromise.
See? I told you I did something stupid. I turned on the TV. No radio, No newspaper (except the SMITHVILLE REVIEW), and I feel better already. Now off goes the TV. Wait for it. Yeah, here it comes. Oh that tomato sandwich feeling; peacefull isn't it? Well, back to my hermiting.
You know, I have to move a bunch of Hostas kind of soon ( I've got the perfect spot for them), because that dead elm tree has got to come down soon or it'll come down on its own. And not where I want it.
Hey! Has anyone come up with any ideas to get Sheriff Ray more money for more people? Keep thinking about it. We'll come up with something the more we think about it.
When you go to bed at night, ask Him if he has any ideas. You never know what He might be willing to share with you.   Until next week, eat fresh and pass along a smile. See ya!
