Louise Frazier

We wanted to write one final Flashes in honor of Mother and say a “thank you” to all the reader of this column for being so faithful over the years.  She really enjoyed expressing her love of canning, family, flowers, community, church, and God throughout her weekly writing.

The many hours she either spent canning or instructing other on how to can have been countless.  Nothing excited her more than to see a bucket full of freshly picked vegetables or fruit be delivered into her kitchen.  If you ever had the occasion to visit her home you would have left with a jar of her famous three day pickle or some type of jelly.  This craft has definitely been handed down to her daughters and will be continued for years to come.

Mother also enjoyed potting flowers and filling her patio pots with a variety of colorful blooming plants. One wouldn’t think she enjoyed digging in the dirt, but she did.  It was like a work of art to see how the small plants could be positioned just right in the potting soil, then given tender love and care, could develop into a large display of beauty.   These flower helped attract her beloved birds.  She spend many hours sitting in the den looking out at the various species of birds that visited the blooming flowers or during the winter months, one of her many bird feeders.  She would often announce to the household the spotting of a specific bird drawing others into observance of their beauty.

The love of her family was very obvious in her weekly writing.  She enjoyed making the first announcement of every new addition to the Frazier family with great pride.  Some of her final days of happiness were with family gathered around her bed.  Some receiving her final challenges on how to live life, some receiving encouragement on furthering their education, and some just receiving a last smile of love form her.   A few of the last pictures taken of Mother were her feeble hand reaching outside the bed railings to pet the face of her precious great grandchildren.

The Dry Creek community was always written about with wonder and excitement making one want to visit the valley.   She always enjoyed traveling and occasionally wrote from various locations, but was thrilled when the car took the turn back onto Dry Creek Road.  She considered Dry Creek Baptist Church to be the heartbeat of the community and was faithful to mention all upcoming events with a welcoming invitation for all to visit.

To say Mother will be missed is an understatement.  We, as her family, are comforted knowing her testimony and life was lived to the fullest for the Lord.   Again, we thank you all for being her faithful readers over these many years, she loved and appreciated you.

She would not let us end this final letter without a scripture and prayer list, so please remember the following:  Georgie Cripps, Tommy Prichard, Frances and Edward Frazier, Jimmy Kimbrell, Jerald Cripps, Buddy Fuson, Carroll Thomas, Martha Melching, A.C. Johnson, Lena Rhody, Brittany Linn, Tony Thompson, David Medley, and Rosea Young.

Proverbs 31:  Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
