First Jamboree pageant held

Abby Marie Evans, 13 years old, was crowned queen in the 11-13 age category of the Miss Jamboree pageant. Her court, from left, included Ivy Grace Travis, third runner-up; Alexis Grace Atnip, second runner-up; Evans; Abigail Hope Taylor, first runner-up; and Grace Howland, fourth runner-up. A total of five young ladies competed in the event. Queen Evans won Prettiest Eyes, Alexia Atnip won Prettiest Dress and Miss Photogenic, and Grace Howland won Prettiest Hair.

The first ever Miss Jamboree Pageant was held June 7 at the DeKalb County Complex Auditorium featuring categories for six age groups ranging from 4-29 years of age. Thirty-five contestants vied for the crown in their respective categories. The Miss Jamboree Queens will assist with this year’s upcoming Fiddlers’ Jamboree and Crafts Festival by awarding winner’s trophies and participating in short interview spotlights on WTCE TV. The event was hosted by Jamboree Marketing Committee Members Shan Burlow, Suzanne Williams, Beth Chandler and Lou Ann Sanders. Burlow emceed the event and is shown with winners in photo below.
