Frazier twins celebrate 89th birthday
fraziers w sm

Henry Edward and Edsel B. Frazier were born in Dowelltown on March 13, 1926 to Robert Lee and Hassie Frazier. The boys grew up in and around the Dry Creek are, where they loved to fish, explore caves, and help their Dad on the farm.

When World War II broke out, the boys found themselves enlisting in the United States Army and arrived on the banks of Normandy serving in the European Theatre. After surviving the war, the twins returned home, later married their sweethearts, Martha Ann Young, and Frances Fuston and began their families. Each twin had one daughter and one son born in that order. The twins opened the Frazier Brother’s Nursery which is the oldest known nursery in the state of Tennessee and has been open for well over sixty years consecutively.

Edsel pursued a second career with the United States Post Office as a mail carrier and later retired while Edward pursued a career in politics serving many terms on the city council and two terms as Mayor of Smithville. The guys still stay active in the community and are number one fans of the DeKalb County High School basketball teams and not only sit in their reserved seats in Smithville, but are often seen on the road traveling to the teams out-of-town games.

Edward dotes on his new great-granddaughters, and Edsel is looking forward to his granddaughter’s first child which is due to make his appearance on the twin’s birthday, Friday the 13, this year. Congratulations and best wishes to Edward and Edsel on birthday number 89.
