How many times do we do it - speed on the highway without a second thought. We are always in a hurry to get where we're going. Most of us never pay attention to the speed limit signs … until we see the patrol car on the side of the road. Immediately, we hit the brake to slow down, praying we don't see flashing blue lights in our rear view mirror. When we don't, we usually resume speeding when the patrol car is out of view. When we do see the blue flashes, we are usually verbally abusing the officer in our head while he is only trying to perform his duties.
We all witness this scenario every day. It reminds me of our lives. How many times do we do things when no one is watching, thinking it's no one else's business. We have a tendency to think “No one is around. No one will see.” We forget that just because another person will not see us does not mean God does not see. We tend to forget that we have an omniscient God, who knows all the hidden secrets of our hearts. How differently would we act if we only acknowledge nothing is hidden from the One who created us.
Everything any of us do will one day be revealed, “whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops” (Luke 12:3). Let us heed the signs of our lives and remember God is always in His patrol car watching His children.
