There are times when I think I haven't heard from God this week… I have no idea what to write.
With a thousand things on my mind concerning work and family, I seem to push God into the back of my mind into a far corner. I pray and ask Him what to write, but I get nothing.
Perhaps it's not because God is not whispering in my ear, maybe I just don't want to listen.
We all have that attitude from time to time. Life has a way of taking over without us ever realizing we are drifting from where God wants us to be. Oh, we have dozens of excuses, “I'm busy at work… I have to do laundry… I have to help the kids with homework.” But let's just call it what it is - an excuse to not think about God. And when we do open ourselves to God and stay silent and listen, the devil finds his way in to whisper in our ear.
“Oh, you can read tomorrow… You don't need to pray; God is going take care of it the problem. You know you just pray for His will to be done anyway… You don't have to go to church, it's too cold out.” The problem is, the devil will yell out his excuses which are easy to hear. It's more difficult to hear that still, small voice if we are not focused on the Lord.
No matter your schedule this week, let all of us try to make more time to be still and listen; to be obedient instead of lazy. Let us all to be about our Father's business.
