From Heart to Head
In you I trust?

What does trust mean to you? Is it telling all of your secrets to someone who will not divulge them? Is it more about what someone does in close proximity to you and your loved ones? Could it be the idea of knowing someone has your best interests in mind when acting or speaking to you or others?
Trust means a lot of different things to many, but it is always the quickest thing lost in any relationship. It is also the one thing that is quickly taken for granted and treated as most insignificant in most relationships. Yet, sadly, this is the element in a relationship that is most easily given to others for so many. So, to say the least, trust is a precarious and valuable thing to have. So why taint it so easily?
When we go to work for someone else, trust is laid upon the table and issued to you like a uniform. Yet, how many of us have forgotten to “dress” for the job and left that trust at home in the closet? Instead, we put on an outfit designed with stolen product, wasted work hours, insubordinate reactions towards our boss, and refusals to follow even the simplest of company rules. Seems like a cheap imitation of a much nicer suit.
In a relationship, we start off on a journey of discovery. The trail can be ruthless, wrought with obstacles, and one would find it impossible to undertake the journey alone. That much is understood. Yet all too often, we find ourselves pulling away from our trusted partner, only to veer from that path and find ourselves faced with dangers unseen. Why? I'd rather have a kitten by my side that scratches occasionally, than a wildcat that could turn and rip me apart at any given moment. Not to mention, the fall from a precarious cliff offers no promises of a safe landing.
It's just funny how one can trust and accept trust so easily, but then findthe backlash so hard to accept. All the while, if we had been guided by that trust all along, we would have found the outcome much easier to digest. Instead, we tarnish something that should be regarded as a gem above all gems, and find ourselves wanting after the fact. It's a sad fact, but all too often the truth.
You may be wondering why you can't get ahead in your profession. You may be wondering why that attractive person won't give you the time of day. You may even be wondering why a spouse or significant other left you behind for another. You also may find that the answer was staring you in the face all along; you just forgot to remember how much some value trust more than others.
