My Daughter Lindsy had a high risk pregnancy so she was sent to Erlanger to give birth as a precaution for her and the baby. My granddaughter Rylee Winfree was born on December 10, 2019. She was 21.4 inches long and weighed 6lbs and 5 oz. She was born with a fistula of the esophagus. It had to be repaired so to repair it the surgeon had to attach both ends called tracheoesophageal fistula. Rylee was blessed to have surgery next day to fix her esophagus. Rylee and her parents spent the next 35 days in the NICU. These doctors and nurses were wonderful. Rylee got to come home with a G-tube until the healing of her surgery is better and she can take a bottle. We have been so blessed by God, family, our church family and friends for the continual prayers and support.
I want to tell you about Ronald McDonald House. This is a wonderful place I don’t know what they would have done without this wonderful place to stay while Rylee was in NICU. I know people are hesitant to give to places but please give to Ronald McDonald House. First you have a consultation with the director and you tell why you are here. They just ask you to have a talk with you every week to check the progress of the patient, and ask you to check in and out on a board. Churches and organization, and groups of people donate their time and prepare food for you. I knew that Lindsy and Ryan would always have food available to them. The room was nice and clean. It had two beds, recliner, chairs and a desk and a huge bathroom. Each floor had its own kitchen, living room and dining area where you good put your own food and prepare meals if you wanted too. Each floor had two washers and dryers for you to use, no charge. The house is right across the street from the hospital. You could do a chore or pay $10 a night. I stayed there with my daughter, I was so impressed and grateful with the accommodations that were provide to the people staying there. You never know what a place is like until you stay there or need to stay there. We will be returning there soon to take supplies and donations. I cannot tell you how grateful I am for Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga. So the next time you have some spare change give to this great cause they help so many families in need and they do it with a big heart.
