Lately I have been having thoughts of the ole smokehouse that’s been long gone for years now and the fun I had in it. The steps to the top level led to my playhouse up there. Pretty roomy there and so close to home since the kitchen of the house is only a few feet away. It was like my home away from home. A few old cracked plates, not all were chipped or cracked, cups, glasses, and some old forks, spoons, and knives that were not in use were used to put on a wood box that was a substitute for a table. Maybe an old piece of cloth spread on top of the box for a tablecloth. All the comforts of home were in place. Some days or evenings with rain falling on the roof it would be cool in there but a bulky sweater or a thicker coat would suffice nicely. One of “Mom’s” old canning jars held some flowers from her flower garden to make it a perfect setting. Just being there was so comforting for me knowing all was well in my world with mom and dad and brothers and sisters all well and living and loving life.
The years come and go and so many of our dearly loved family members no longer here to talk to or to be around and enjoy. How quickly the world you remember from so many years ago got gone in almost an instant or maybe a blink of an eye. I remember just sitting in that loft and being happy without a care and knowing all was well in my world of being so young and innocent and thinking it would never end.
Please keep in prayer: the family of Carlon Melton, Bill Nokes, and Donna Lawson.

Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. And that knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
