Hope everyone had a nice Valentine’s Day. I was listening on the radio and it was discussing what a lady does not want for Valentine’s one was the heart shaped candy box they preferred a nice chocolate, next a big bear, no one wanted that except for the teenagers, big bouquet of roses no they wanted just regular flowers or none at all. They preferred a nice meal and maybe a small bouquet of mixed flowers. I hope you picked out a good gift for your special someone. I enjoy cooking so that is what I usually do.
This past week the weather has been raining, some sunshine and now a cold front is passing through Middle Tennessee. No wonder no one puts up all their spring clothes. You could start out with a long sleeve t-shirt and end up in a parka and boots. That is just our weather around here we are just so versatile.
This past Monday, February 15, 2021 was recognized as Presidents Day. I often wonder what our past Presidents would think of our country today. Seems like the Presidents of yester year had a lot more of a battle. But most of them were fight for the rights of the American people. Do they do that today? Or do they just fight among themselves? If congress would really do what is best for the people of the United States would there be so much disagreement? If they were to think from their heart and mind what is best and not think like a Republican or a Democrat would we still see the same results? I often think that we would not. The battle is often between the Democrats and the Republicans not what is right for the people.
For instance the Presidents on Mount Rushmore, first George Washington first President said, “The preservation of the sacred fire of Liberty, and the destiny of the Republican model of Government, are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally staked, on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people." George Washington the American people is who he entrusted. Now let’s go to Thomas Jefferson our 3rd President he said, "We act not for ourselves but for the whole human race. The event of our experiment is to show whether man can be trusted with self - government." Thomas Jefferson. We act for everyone. Now to our 26th President Theodore Roosevelt said, "The first requisite of a good citizen in this Republic of ours is that he shall be able and willing to pull his weight - that he shall not be a mere passenger." Theodore Roosevelt. Last and not least our 16th President Abraham said, “I leave you hoping that the lamp of liberty will burn in your bosoms until there shall no longer be a doubt that all men are created free and equal." Abraham Lincoln.
So after reading what these Presidents wrote my conclusion is they were for the people and the rights of the people. I wonder would they be frowning on Mt. Rushmore today. That’s all I have for this week. May God bless you and keep you safe.
