News from the Mountain
I’m still hibernating like a lot of you from the virus that just won’t go away. If we will just use some common sense and take the necessary precautions if we need to get out to do errands, get groceries, etc., we most likely will be okay and not get the virus. To get the upper hand on this virus, we have to use our smarts every day.
On a lighter side and I think by now a little laughter will make us feel a little better. I will tell you about my friend, Beverly and what a big heart she has. Recently in Aubrey’s shop she had put down a few of those sticky pads to catch a mouse or two coming into the shop.. Well, while she was organizing yard sale items and cleaning on the shop she noticed a mouse on one of the pads. It was stuck and couldn’t go anywhere. Beverly told me later she felt sorry for the little mouse. It was looking up at her with those pitiful eyes she couldn’t ignore. She had a few morsels left of her chicken she had for lunch so she put two of them close enough to the little fella that he could eat them and he did just that. I’m flabbergasted at what she’s saying and I say so you really gave that mouse its last meal is what you’re telling me. She said, I guess so. If you had seen the look in those pleading eyes, you would have done the same thing. No way this side of eternity would I have fell for that I told her. Thoughts creeping up in the back of my mind did she give that mouse a funeral service, too? Afraid to ask her about that but I’m looking around in the corner where Aubrey’s shovel is to see if there is any dirt on it. I just hope I’m wrong in what I’m suspecting what else Beverly hasn’t told me.
We may have a light frost around here tonight so I’ve covered my dahlias and I also brought in a big plant into our garage to save it. So many of us are old hands at doing this each fall to keep our flowers as long as possible looking good.
