Oh what a beautiful Sunday morning in the Dry Creek Valley. To wake up at home, surrounded by green fields from fresh rolled hay and gardens beginning to get ready to harvest squash and green beans and other vegetables, is wonderful.
We truly appreciate our home friends and our children. On hand to welcome us home, Saturday about noon, was our faithful pastor, Bro. Donald Owens and church family, Danny Agee, Bobby and Paulette Robinson, Jimmy Kimbrell, and our daughters, Judy, Kathy and Lisa. Thank you very kindly.
Visitors of Mary and Bobby Joines were Chritsine Rochinere, Elizabeth, Emilie and Cerria, Pea Ridge, Fred and Faye Vanhook, Lebanon, Brandon Dyer, Alexandria, Jimmy Womack, Smithville, Jerry Hutchins and Willie Thomas, Smithville and Kathy Hendrix, Dry Creek. May God continue to bless the Joines family.
Mr. James Keyt of Phoenix City, AL is spending a few days here with his sister, Mrs. Louise Frazier, and is the house guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Cripps on Dismal Road in Liberty.
Mrs. Helen Burt spent Monday with her daughter, Mrs. Vicki Corley, in Alexandria. Vicki is recovering from surgery. Our love, best wishes and prayers are with the Corley family.
It was so good to have therapist Charlie Tramel visit with us Tuesday. We’ve known Charlie since he was a young boy growing up with our grandchildren, Jared and Matthew. After they graduated from DCHS, they enrolled at MTSU. They all chose different vocations. Matthew Cripps chose finance at UPS in Nashville. He and his wife Melody live in Murfreesboro. Charlie attended UT Memphis and majored in therapy. He and his wife Brenda live in Dowelltown.
Jared Hendrix attended the Mercer School of Pharmacy in Atlanta and received his Doctoral degree in Pharmacy. He is now a pharmacist at River Park Hospital in McMinnville. He and his wife, Jennifer, reside in the Dry Creek Valley, where they are building a new residence. We congratulate these young men who are now contributing citizens to our community and state.
We received one of the nicest get-well cards yesterday from my dear principal Mr. Ernest Ray and his wife, Elene, Adams, TN. It was so nice to be remembered by these nice people. Mr. Ray was principal over many teachers and to be thought of by him touched my heart. Mr. Ray was indeed a great principal and a good director of schools. Thank you for remembering us.
In traveling down life’s highway, we meet many people. Some leave a lifelong imprint. Mr. Ray was one of those whose life touched mine. It is wonderful to have known you and Elene.
Mrs. Kay Life, of Shiply, has been visiting her mother Mrs. Charles Davis in Dowelltown this week.
Special get-well wishes go out to our neighbors Ms. Jenette France who has been ill with inner ear illness. Our love and best wishes go to her. Her son, Tim France, Smithville, has been with her.
We received our first birthday card this week from special friends Jerry and Brenda Parker of Murfreesboro. It was a beautiful Thomas Kinkade. He is America’s most collected living artist. Thanks so much,
We just received news of the passing of a relative, Mrs. Ruby Frazier Smithson of Smithville. She is the sister of Edward and Edsel Fraizer and widow of the late Mr. Bruce Smithson. Read next week’s column for more information about this nice lady.
Homecoming at Dry Creek Baptist Church was a big success. All seat were filled to hear one of the former pastors, Bro. Dave Carden of Mt. Herman Baptist Church, bring an inspiring message on the subject of “Ten reasons I want to go to Heaven.” Number one, to see Christ. Bro. Dave brought a wonderful message. Nancy Owens and Joyce West provided special music. Fred VanHook, is the music director, Judy Kimbrell, pianist, and Glen Faircloth, organist. The church choir sang a special.
After the worship service, homecoming dinner was served in the Fellowship Hall. This homecoming celebrated 122 years in serving the Lord. Bro. Donald Owens, pastor. Thanks to all who made homecoming special in 2011.
It is good to remember that the tea kettle, although up to its neck in hot water, continues to sing.
Rejoice evermore. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5,16,18)
