James Edward Mathis of Liberty was selected the 2017 DAR Good Citizen for DeKalb County High School. He is the son of Mary Mathis and Richard Mathis and has a younger brother, Will. The Daughters of the American Revolution give this award to one graduating senior in each class who exemplifies the qualities of good citizenship: dependability, honesty, humility, service to their school and community, leadership, patriotism-just to name a few of characteristics.
