Joe Black Effort to hold car, dog wash

The Joe Black Effort has been a quietly operating community cause for several years and recently became known in the area as the safe (no kill) place to call about animal issues. Now seeking the community’s support, the group wants to continue to get animals off of the streets, out of abusive situation and place them in loving homes.
Rene’s Hair Company at Maggies’ Landing will be playing host to dogs of all shapes, sizes and colors this Saturday as they hold a benefit called Rides and Rovers, a car and dog wash. This is the first fundraiser the group has held and all money collected will be deposited into the Joe Black account, which will continue to help fund the rescue, rehabilitate and re-home animals in need. The group also works very closely with Smithville’s veterinary clinics, Freckles’ Friends and the AARF in Cookeville, which helps provide vouchers for animas to be spayed and neutered.
Along with the car and dog wash, hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase. There will also be some adoptable pets present at the event. Entertainment by Michael Bailey will be held throughout the afternoon as well.
Volunteers are greatly needed to help with the event to wash cars and dogs. Donations of towels, wash tubs and buckets are also being sought. The event will begin at 4 p.m. this Saturday with a cost of $10 per wash - car or dog. Stand-alone donation to the Joe Black Effort can be made at the DeKalb Animal Clinic, Wheeler Veterinary Clinic, KRenee Photography or Rene’s Hair Company.
