KING CHARLES: TWO WOMEN AND A THRONE
Leeann Judkins

His entire life centered around ascending to the Great Britain throne of English Royalty.

His entire life centered around Camilla Parker Bowles – his always and forever mistress turned wife turned Queen of England.

On Saturday, May 6, 2023, King Charles’ centered dreams became reality.  And he was glad.

His first and unloved wife, Diana Frances Spencer, was approved by Camilla to become the next Princess of Wales, not to mention, Camilla had a front row seat at the marriage ceremony, and an engraved bracelet was found on Diana’s honeymoon in Charles’ luggage.  It was a love gift from Charles to Camilla.  Diana was furious!  And Camilla was glad.

Historically, Andrew Parker Bowles, Camilla’s long-time husband, previously heavily dated Princess Anne, Charles only sister, to get revenge on his girlfriend, Camilla, who secretary had begun dating Charles!  On another rebound action in their mischievous relationships, Charles married, yet was not in love with, the young Lady Diana Spencer.  There was a partial disregard of his heirs, Prince William, and his spare, Harry (Prince Henry) whom he prayed at birth would be a daughter.  There was no reference contention regarding his step-daughter, Laura Bowles Lopes and step-son, Tom Parker Bowles.  As my royal besties said, “It was a case of yours, mine, and ours.”  Camilla’s maiden name was Shand.  Although committing adultery and dating a lifetime (since 1970 - 53 years), Camilla and Charles later were married in a London civil ceremony as directed by orders from Queen Elizabeth on April 9, 2005. Because each was a divorcee, they were not allowed to marry in the Church of England.

Later, in a televised interview, “There were three people in this marriage,” said Diana, Princess of Wales, when commenting about her husband, Prince Charles during the 1980’s.  The third person was Camilla Shand Parker Bowles, the “love of Charles life” for upward of 60 years.  This was quoted in the best-selling novel “Diana: Her True Story” by Andrew Morton, published in 1992, the same year that she and Charles divorced.

The BBC reported in 1995, “The woman widely believed to be the mistress of Prince Charles on and off for nearly 25 years is to be divorced from her husband (Tom Parker Bowles), the couple’s lawyers said today.”

The Saturday, May 6, 2023 Coronation of King Charles III, age 76, and Queen Camilla, age 75, both of Great Britain was a once-in-a-generation ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London, England.  Charles, the Prince of Wales, had waited more than 70 years to ascend to the throne.  His entire life had been relegated duties pursuant to the writings of the Royal Constitution.

The deeply religious, elaborate, and majestic ceremony spotlighted on the words and music of the Church of England.  Thousands of persons were in attendance while many others physically participated in the hours-long sublime ceremony. There were more than 2,000 high-class invited guests and a global audience of millions. And, true to form, all Nashville televisions covered the event, leaving no reason for channel surfing. CNN News Network carried before and after coverage, beginning at midnight and ending at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday – 11 hours of broadcast coverage.  And who paid for the event?  The British taxpayers are estimated to have to pay between 60 to 125 million dollars.  Ironically, Charles’ net worth is $2.2 billion dollars.  Why didn’t he pay for his extravagant coronation?  On Monday, it was reported that the taxpayers of Great Britain were furious at having to pay the coronation’s costs through their taxes.  Additionally, Charles inherited $500 million in personal assets when his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died last year. Also furnished to King Charles were his residence, Buckingham Palace, other residences in other locales, boats, a humongous yacht, several luxury yachts, etc.  Simply stated, King Charles and Queen Camilla live a debt-free, furnished lifestyle.

The weather montage did not cooperate either – a slow, steady rain interfered during the momentous ceremony.  The music sequestered the living.  The sounds permeated the winds and the notes permeated the hearts of all who were blessed to hear from multicultural choirs. Later, it was made aware that CD’s of the coronation music would later be for sale to the general public.

In historical retrospect, Charles had ascended to the throne on September 8, 2022, upon the death of his mother, Elizabeth II, who’s coronation was in 1952 upon the death of her father King George.  Her uncle was King Edward (aka: David) who abdicated the throne for divorcee Wallis Simpson.  Charles maternal grandmother was Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, who was married to King George.  Upon Camilla’s blessing, Charles married Lady Diana Spencer, the mother of his two sons, William and Harry.  Diana, age 36 and divorced, was tragically killed in an automobile accident in Paris, France in 1997. Her body was removed from the Mercedes and placed in an ambulance.  Later, at the hospital, she died from a heart attack related to physical and mental stresses from the high-speed-related automobile accident.

Two years later, (after the fatal crash), in 1999, Charles and Camilla were finally married.  The following year, Camilla accompanied Charles to official events.  In 2001, they shared their first public kiss.

As of Coronation Day, Charles and Camilla had been married 24 years and together 53 years; he and Diana dated less than a year and were married for only 15 years before their divorce.  Ironically, it was Charles’s father, Prince Phillip, who pressured his son to propose to Diana.  On several occasions during her marriage, Diana tried to commit suicide, plus she was plagued with Bulimia, a mental illness, every day of her life.

Some funny fun facts, all royalty’s clothes are not washed in a machine – everything is hand-washed.  It is noted that Charles and Camilla do not sleep together or share the same bed because of royal tradition, and Charles and Diana slept in separate bedrooms at Kensington Palace. William and Kate sleep together in the same bed. Makes one wonder what’s wrong with Charles’ sleeping habits?  Additionally, are they related?  Camilla is related to both Diana and King Charles!!!  Heavens to Betsy!  Camilla’s great-grandmother was a mistress to King Edward, VII, the great-great grandfather of King Charles.  Adultery and pre-marital royalty affairs were notorious since the early 1900’s.  Just recently, it was revealed that William, the new Prince of Wales and Charles and Dianna’s oldest married son, had been caught with his long-time girlfriend, Rose Hanbury. It was also reported by the BBC that William physically beat his wife, Catherine Milton, the mother of his three children.

Much appreciation is extended to my “partners in crime” and my “royal family watchers,” Gina Jennings Denman, Amanda Webb Blair, and Sandy Byrd Hobbs of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee.  We discovered that strong coffee tastes the same at 10:00 a.m. in Great Britain and at 4:00 a.m. in the United States.
