A man who has been riding his bicycle across the United States now for 19 years, made his way through DeKalb County Monday, August 5, 2019. Tony Adams, who is from Fort Collins, Colorado, was on his way to North Carolina when he was spotted on Highway 70 in Dowelltown.
“I ride in search for answers and questions about this world,” Adams said.
“I do not have a driver’s license, own a car, have never been married or have any children,” he continued.
Adams pulls a small home-made camper behind his bike to sleep in. It consists of a small stove, radio and a seven inch TV that runs off of 12 volts.
He has traveled through 37 states, the Continental Divide 21 times, survived eight winters suffering only four boughts of frostbite and hit by only three cars.
Throughout his journey, he has been interview by 41 newspapers, one radio station and been on TV four times. This year his goal is to go through North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland. Without a job, Adams survives merely on donations he receives during his travels.
When asked what he truly hopes to accomplish, he humbly said, “Looking forward with a talk with God.”
