The Short Mountain Community extends sympathy to Tommy and Priscilla Martin of our community in the loss of their newborn baby boy Jesse Paul Martin on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. A graveside service was held on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery with Brother Greg Mitchell officiating. Please keep the Martin family in your prayers.

We also extend sympathy to the family of Vicky Woods age 68. She passed away on April 2, 2021. Vicky used to live here on the mountain years ago. Quite a wonderful person. Fond memories I have of her and also her mom, Dorothy. Please keep Vicky’s family in your prayers.

We’ve got dogwood and locust winters in full bloom around here. As always we have cool snaps to go along with these different winters we go through each spring. I’m just glad the worst of the winters are behind us.

Please keep in prayer: Rose watts, Treva White, Ruth Brown, Jeff Brown, Charlie Mai Daniels, Jeanette Smithson, Helen Nixon, Ethelene Pedigo, Ronald Lawson, and the family of Talmage Young.

Our country needs prayer like never before in these turbulent times with people not thinking about God and his son Jesus. They only think about themselves and how they can stir up trouble. You know you and I could act out in such an uncivilized manner if we were so a mind to hurt those people around us. I am constantly praying for our police officers as they are now being put under a magnifying glass anywhere they may be. I hear of police officers going up to a vehicle they have pulled over to check it out and as they approach the vehicle a gun is pointed at the officer and fired and the officer or officer’s ae left on the ground to die in a pool of blood. These kind of tragedies are being played out all over the United States every day. Officers are stabbed to death their throats slashed, heads blown off and they die that way or they can be run over and killed by the bad guy but are these murders splashed all over the newspapers from one coast to the other coast? No they are not. No marches, no burnings, no lootings just disgust at what has taken place. Those police officers are dying at a far faster pace than the ones that are using social media at their disposal to exploit a few shootings or etc. by a police officer. One or two bad apples on the police force do not spoil the barrel, but out in society so many of those other apples have taken over to try and destroy this country simply because they want to do that. The police officers should have our respect and gratitude for the dangerous responsibility they have in curbing the criminal element in our society. I’m tired like a lot of you in all that has been happening being so one sided against our law enforcements. Let’s support them because they are the ones that are protecting us and putting their lives on the line every day. Mistakes will be made but the good these police officers do outweighs the bad by a long shot.
